  10. Indeed. Which is why I am a strong advocate of prudent behavior for both sexes. We live in a dangerous world where the threat of prison time fails to deter much crime. There are many things that people can do to maximize their safety. If they fail to take those precautions, so they deserve to be assualted or victimized? No, but they’ve increased the odds considerably. It’s just not good practice.

  35. The first part of this sentence is mistaken. The law does not give you the right to not be murdered, robbed, or raped. You have those rights from birth. The law is one instrument by which free people attempt to protect those rights.

  37. Remember, though, that when seconds count the police are only minutes away. You have to protect yourself. In the USA we recognize that right, up to and including deadly force. It’s better, of course, if you can make sure it doesn’t come to that. It’s prudent to nip those possibilities in the bud.

  39. US citizens are sovereign in the same way that the kings of Europe once were. We are accountable to our peers only. We did not trade a bunch of hereditary autocrats for elected and appointed autocrats. Europeans don’t understand this. Too many Americans don’t understand it either.
